Lawrence Legacy
My information on my Lawrence ancestors came from the
History of ROVER and the 10th District of Bedford Co. TN
The Lawrence family shows up in Rutherford County, Tennessee on the 1810 Census. Then in 1836 we find the estate of John Lawrence with his property divided between ten heirs; widow (not named), Nancy, John T., James, William, Sarah, Margaret C., Elizabeth M., Joseph, and Roger C. T. Snell.
James Lawrence is in the 10th District of Bedford Co. when the 1840 census was taken. James married Mary A. Harris, daughter of John T. and Esta Harris. They had nine daughters: Elizabeth, Nancy, Eunice Emmeline, Millie Ann, Mary Malisa, Margaret, Sarah Manerva, Jane, and Amanda. James Lawrence did 2 years after a knife wound to his abdomen.
Daughter Elizabeth Lawrence b. 5 Sept. 1835 d. 6 April 1928 married George W. Davis."
