One of my "brick walls" is the Watson family in Rutherford Co. TN. My ancestor is John M. Watson. He was born about 1826 possibly in VA, but the 1860 Rutherford Co. census lists his place of birth as Tennessee. He married Mary Ann Haynes, daughter of Thomas King and Sarah Tudor Haynes. Mary Ann was born 1835 in Rutherford Co. TN. They married February 21, 1853 in Rutherford Co. They had the following children: Susan Elizabeth "Lizzie" Watson b. 1854 d. after 1910 m. John W. Windrow March 27, 1870. Sarah A. Watson b. 1856. C.P. Watson (Tennessee?) b. 1858. Emily Watson b. 1860. Mary (May) Watson b. abt. 1865. William T. Watson b. 1866. James P. Watson b. 1869.

On the 1830 Rutherford Co. TN census, we find three Watson's: Jessee, Larner, and William.
In 1840 there are David H., John M., William L., Charles H., Larner, Jones, and Marmon D. Watson.
By 1850 Larner has moved to Benton Co. TN. Larner was b. abt. 1796 in VA. He married Nancy ?. Some of their children were James M. b. abt. 1821, Sarah Watson b. abt. 1826, Hugh Felix George b. abt. 1828, and Hugh's twin Eliz b. abt. 1828.
James M. married Rebecca Malvina Alexander Feb. 1848.
In 1850 Rutherford Co. there are three households of Watson's: #631 is Pleasant A. Watson age 39 and J. M. Watson age 24. #887 is the David and Nancy James Watson family. And #888 is Elizabeth Watson age 66 and Sarah Watson age 44.
The Thomas King Haynes family is living in house #889.
