Pacolet's People
WHO ARE WE REALLY? A study of the Brandon Family of South Carolina 1750-1780
Among the early settlers of the Up-country in South Carolina, who, along with their families, moved to and built houses along or near the Pacolet River, was the Brandon family. These early settlers must have been related to one another, having the same last name, but it has been very difficult to come up with proof as to the relationship. Hopefully, one day someone will find a clue to the missing link.

Charles Brandon
Charles Brandon, my earliest proven ancestor, moved to the up-country of South Carolina and built a house near the Pacolet River sometime around 1772. He was married to Sarah Cook and was friends with Hugh Cook and Alexander Chesney. He is found in records serving in the American Revolution and owing land in South Carolina. He was born in York Co. PA in 1750 and died in Bedford County, Tennessee.
